My Motherboard, or prossesor crashed.?

I have a HP2800+ AMD Athlon XP processor.Wouldn't start up one day, took it in to my local comp shop, he said my mother board was shot. Old comp and all, I bought a new one, HP Pavilion a6544f intel core 2 quad prossesor Q6600. Is there a way to get to my old files on my old Hard drive? The connectors are different, sata?- the smal ones ,I have the big blue connector on my old Hard drive. there is a connector labled LOPPY on my new board, what is that?
