My dog peed on my estranged husband's clothes when he (husband) spent the night. What does that mean?

animals are very territorial and very protective . its probably your dogs way of saying he doesnt want your husband around . when me and my wife separated my cat sprayed on all her clothes that were still there . my cat never did that before and never did it again . same thing
