How do i get into the family businesss?

my father was an electrical engineer for many years, and then eventually, now he runs a commercial real estate business that my grandfather started in new york city. now my dad has leased a particular section of our second home's property (256 acres) to a drilling and timber company. they basically drill for natural gas/oil and then cut some trees down to distribute to timber and woodworking companies. how do i get involved in my father's business. it's really inspiring. i just turned 18 and i believe i am old enough to get my real estate license. i guess that's a start, right?
