Are most people online unfriendly and cold?

Hi, Is it just my impression or most people in forums, especially those dealing with feelings, relationship matters, psychology, are quite hmm, insensitive? Sometimes they're just direct and blunt, sometimes they seem quite judgmental, calling what you write about your problems nonsensical. I don't know, maybe I'm overreacting that it sounds harsh to me when I am looking for opinion and support. Am I hypersensitive or it's just not a prerequisite to be friendly?
